Tammy became a member of the MCHD community in 1995 when her oldest son was in Preschool. Two years later her family moved to Asia, and it was MCHD that brought her back to North Carolina in 2000 when her family repatriated. Both her children are now MCHD alumni. Throughout her years as an MCHD parent, Tammy has served on many committees, volunteered in the classrooms, substituted, and served as Interim Administrator for one year before being the Business Manager for 8 years. She attended Waterson Business College and Northern Kentucky University.

Cynthia has been a part of the MCHD community since 1980, when her daughter Kristen enrolled as a three-year-old. When Kristen entered Lower Elementary, Cynthia entered the Center for Montessori Teacher Education in North Carolina, completing her AMS Early Childhood Certificate in 1984. She spent her internship year in Carrie Salemi’s class, and taught at MCHD from 1983-1998. She served as Interim Administrator during the 1999-2000 school year. For over three decades, Cynthia has served in many capacities at MCHD from providing after school care for MCHD students in her home, to serving on the Board of Directors for several terms, including three years as President, continuous service in the Human Resources Policy Committee, substitute teaching, and teaching music and yoga. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia, Cynthia has a BA from Duke University. She and her husband, David, are the proud parents of Kristen and Ryan Bowie and the devoted grandparents of Lily, Grace and Liam.

Lyn became part of the MCHD community in 2011 when her daughter, Ella, enrolled in the Early Childhood program. Having taught English and literacy to students from elementary through high school for eleven years, Lyn has tremendous esteem for the work of Montessori teachers and was thrilled to join the staff in the summer of 2012 in this supportive role. A Georgia native, Lyn has loved living in North Carolina since earning her Masters in Education at Wake Forest University. She enjoys reading, playing guitar, musical theatre, and spending time outside with her daughter. She is beginning to tolerate running as a balance to her delight in indulgent baking.
Griet Van Miegroet
Director of Auxiliary Programsgriet(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)mchdurham.orgIn 2016, MCHD is thrilled to welcome Griet back to the community as the Director of Auxiliary Programs. Griet is not only a parent of two MCHD alums, Lotte and Wieland, but she also served as Lisa Tate’s assistant in Early Childhood from 1996 to 2002. Griet holds a Bachelors degree in foreign languages (English, German, French & Dutch) from the Higher Business and Language Institute, Ghent, Belgium, and a Masters in Education/Special Education from the Higher Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Ghent, Belgium, as well as a Masters in Speech and Hearing from UNC Chapel Hill. Griet comes to us this time from Durham Public Schools where she has spent six years serving as the After School Manager and most recently as a Child Assessment & Prevention Team Member. Prior to her work at DPS, Griet served six years at Durham Academy as the Director of the After School Program and Activities and Summer Camp, which she designed and implemented. Griet loves running and biking and spending time with her family.

Natalie became a part of the MCHD community in the spring of 2014 as a substitute. Since the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, you can find her in the front office of MCHD assisting the administrative staff. She is originally from Chantilly, VA in the suburbs of DC. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a BS in Communication & Journalism in 2011, she returned to Virginia to work in children’s ministry at Centreville United Methodist Church for three years. Natalie moved to Durham to live with her sister in the spring of 2014 and began at MCHD. She married Scott later that summer and they have since bought a house in Durham! She loves running, baking, and spending time outside with her family.
Bookkeeperpam(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)mchdurham.orgPam has been working at MCHD since 2006, though she has worked in the bookkeeping profession for over 25 years. A North Carolina native, Pam has been living in Durham since 1970 and currently lives with her daughter Tosha and dogs Sammy and Lady. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, great action movies, home improvement projects, and spending time with her family, which includes her son, five grandchildren, and a great-grandaughter.
